In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Q6 e-tron are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The ID.BUZZ doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

With its standard Active Front Assist, the Audi Q6 e-tron is better at preventing collisions with pedestrians than the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Audi Q6 e-tron achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Volkswagen ID.BUZZ has not been tested.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Q6 e-tron. But it costs extra on the ID.BUZZ.

The Audi Q6 e-tron offers an optional Top View Cameras and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Q6 e-tron and the ID.BUZZ have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Audi Q6 e-tron has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2026 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test, and a “Good” score in the revised vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention test. The ID.BUZZ has not yet been fully evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

The Q6 e-tron’s corrosion warranty is 5 years and unlimited miles longer than the ID.BUZZ’s (12/unlimited vs. 7/100,000).

Audi pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 1 visits) on the Q6 e-tron for 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Volkswagen pays for maintenance for the ID.BUZZ (3/30,000 vs. 2/20,000).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Volkswagen With 12 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Audi higher than Volkswagen.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Volkswagen vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Audi 3 places higher in reliability than Volkswagen.

The Q6 e-tron’s standard electric motors produces 174 more horsepower (456 vs. 282) and 218 lbs.-ft. more torque (631 vs. 413) than the ID.BUZZ’s standard electric motor. The Q6 e-tron’s electric motors produces 121 more horsepower (456 vs. 335) and 119 lbs.-ft. more torque (631 vs. 512) than the ID.BUZZ’s optional electric motors. The SQ6 e-tron’s standard electric motors produces 174 more horsepower (509 vs. 335) and 119 lbs.-ft. more torque (631 vs. 512) than the ID.BUZZ’s optional electric motors.

The Audi Q6 e-tron has standard four-wheel disc brakes for better stopping power and improved directional control in poor weather. Only rear drums come on the ID.BUZZ. Drums can heat up and make stops longer, especially with antilock brakes that work much harder than conventional brakes.

For better traction, the Q6 e-tron’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the ID.BUZZ (F:255/50R20 & R:285/45R20 vs. F:235/50R20 & R:265/45R20).

The Q6 e-tron SQ6’s optional 255/45R21 front and 285/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the ID.BUZZ’s 50 series front and 45 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Q6 e-tron SQ6 offers optional 21-inch wheels. The ID.BUZZ’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the Q6 e-tron can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The ID.BUZZ doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The Q6 e-tron offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The ID.BUZZ’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Q6 e-tron Prestige/SQ6 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Q6 e-tron’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The ID.BUZZ doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Audi Q6 e-tron may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 800 pounds less than the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ.

The Q6 e-tron is 7.6 inches shorter than the ID.BUZZ, making the Q6 e-tron easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Q6 e-tron is 9.6 inches shorter in height than the ID.BUZZ, making the Q6 e-tron much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The Q6 e-tron has a much larger cargo volume than the ID.BUZZ with its rear seat up (30.2 vs. 18.6 cubic feet).

The Q6 e-tron’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the ID.BUZZ’s (4400 vs. 2600 pounds).

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Q6 e-tron’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the ID.BUZZ’s headlights are rated “Acceptable.”

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Q6 e-tron SQ6/Prestige has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The ID.BUZZ doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Q6 e-tron’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The ID.BUZZ has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Compared to the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ, the Audi Q6 e-tron eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its standard integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.

The Audi Q6 e-tron outsold the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ by almost three to one during 2025.
