2026 Toyota C-HR

Safety

The Q4 e-tron’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The C-HR doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Q4 e-tron and C-HR have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Q4 e-tron has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The C-HR’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Q4 e-tron has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Assist with Automatic Brake Activation, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. Only the C-HR XSE offers Parking Support Brake.

Both the Q4 e-tron and the C-HR have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The Q4 e-tron comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The C-HR’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Q4 e-tron’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the C-HR’s (12 vs. 5 years).

Audi pays for scheduled maintenance on the Q4 e-tron for 1 year and 5000 miles longer than Toyota pays for maintenance for the C-HR (3/30,000 vs. 2/25000).

Fuel Economy and Range

The Q4 e-tron has a standard locking charge port, which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The C-HR doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Q4 e-tron’s brake rotors are larger than those on the C-HR:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Q4 e-tron has larger rear tires than the C-HR (255/50R19 vs. 235/60R18).

The Q4 e-tron’s standard 235/55R19 front and 255/50R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series front and 50 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the C-HR SE’s standard 60 series tires. The Q4 e-tron 55 e-tron’s optional 235/45R21 front and 255/40R21 rear tires have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile than the C-HR XSE’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Q4 e-tron has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the C-HR SE. The Q4 e-tron 55 e-tron’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the C-HR XSE.

Suspension and Handling

The Q4 e-tron’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the C-HR’s (53% to 47%). This gives the Q4 e-tron more stable handling and braking.

The Q4 e-tron Quattro handles at .81 G’s, while the C-HR XSE pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Q4 e-tron 45’s turning circle is 2.5 feet tighter than the C-HR’s (33.5 feet vs. 36 feet).

Passenger Space

The Q4 e-tron has .8 inches more rear headroom, 5 inches more rear legroom and .4 inches more rear shoulder room than the C-HR.

Cargo Capacity

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Q4 e-tron. The C-HR doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Q4 e-tron’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The C-HR doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Towing

The Q4 e-tron has a 2200 lbs. towing capacity. The C-HR has no towing capacity.

Ergonomics

The Q4 e-tron Premium Plus offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The C-HR doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Q4 e-tron’s power window, power lock and power mirror switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The C-HR’s power window (except driver window) and power lock switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Q4 e-tron to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The C-HR doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Q4 e-tron has a standard rear wiper. The C-HR doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Q4 e-tron’s headlights were rated “Acceptable” by the IIHS, while the C-HR’s headlights are rated “Poor.”

The Q4 e-tron’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The C-HR has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Q4 e-tron Premium Plus’ Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The C-HR doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Model Availability

The Q4 e-tron is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The C-HR doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
